Primary care

Dr. Philpott’s Primary Care Action Team has launched a province-wide initiative to ensure every Ontarian is connected to a primary care clinician or team by 2029. Backed by a $2.1 billion investment, the Primary Care Action Plan will expand access through new and enhanced interprofessional primary care teams (IPCTs). Ottawa OHT-ÉSO and our Primary Care Network play a central role in coordinating, supporting, and submitting local proposals to create or expand IPCTs in Ottawa.

As of February 2026, two rounds of proposals have been implemented by Ontario Health and the Ministry of Health. In round one, one of three local proposals within Ottawa OHT-ÉSO’s assigned geography of responsibility was successful. In round two, for fiscal year 2026-27, all six proposals from within Ottawa OHT-ÉSO’s geography were successful. Round three, for FY2027-26, is expected to launch in fall 2026. Further information will be posted here as it is made available by Ontario Health and the Ministry of Health.
