ABOUT US

Land acknowledgement

The Ottawa OHT–ÉSO acknowledges its responsibilities on Indigenous land

The Ottawa OHT-ÉSO acknowledges that we operate on the unceded and unsurrendered Territory of the Algonquin Anishinaabe Nation. We are grateful to live, work, and provide care on this land, which has been home to Indigenous Peoples since time immemorial.

We recognize the many benefits and privileges we experience as a result of being here—privileges rooted in a colonial history that continues to impact Indigenous communities. We honour the enduring presence, knowledge, cultures, and leadership of First Nations, Inuit, Métis, and Urban Indigenous Peoples, whose resilience continues to shape and strengthen this region.

As a team committed to comprehensive approaches to health and well being, we understand that reconciliation is an ongoing and collective responsibility that demands meaningful action.

Advancing Indigenous health through respectful partnership

We are dedicated to working in respectful partnership with Indigenous Peoples and Indigenous-led organizations to reduce health inequities and advance Indigenous health equity. This includes listening with humility, supporting Indigenous self-determination, and upholding a commitment to community-based care that addresses the social, economic, and cultural determinants of health.
