People living with diabetes or peripheral arterial disease are at higher risk of lower limb amputation. Early screening and timely referral can make a real difference. Join the Ottawa OHT-ÉSO Lower Limb Preservation Community of Practice for a practical lunch and learn on finding patients at risk in your practice and getting them to the right care sooner.
Learning Objectives
  • Describe the goals and principles of the Ottawa Lower Limb Preservation Program, including who is at high risk of lower limb amputation
  • Apply office screening tools, such as Inlow’s 60-second diabetic foot screen, and build them into your office EMR
  • Identify patients appropriate for referral to The Ottawa Hospital’s Vascular Program, based on screening results
  • Review the goals of Ontario’s Lower Limb Preservation Strategy: reducing non-traumatic lower limb amputations and improving equitable access to high-quality, best-practice care
Speakers
  • Christine Murphy, Advanced Practice Nurse, Limb Preservation Clinic, The Ottawa Hospital
  •  A surgeon from The Ottawa Hospital’s Vascular Department
